Post chemo and back to normal routines

Hi everyone!

Well, we are now clear of the treatment period for Rose! It is so nice to be at the other end of that and now be able to focus on giving Rosy a fun and comfortable life.

I promised a few weeks back to post some video of Rose. I’ve been delayed as we had a hiccup, with a lump needing removal from her remaining front leg! Ah dramas. ๐Ÿ™‚ She had a growth just above the right front paw for some years and the vets weren’t concerned about, however for some reason, never having given it a sniff before, she decided to obsessively chew it. This caused it to split and become an open sore. Protecting her front leg from infection or any kind of problem is paramount, so we had to undergo another procedure to remove the lump.

Now, post all of that, we are getting back into a normal routine of going out for walks. We ramble around andย  spend a lot of time sniffing at things, rather than go on long treks these days. Here she is at a nearby park looking very pleased and expectant because she found a baseball. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope this post gives you some encouragement if you have an old dog and are having to make a decision about whether to have surgery to remove a leg. I truly didn’t think Rose would cope. Thank goodness for the advice of the vet, because with love and proper care they do fine on three legs. I’m so glad for Rosy that she is still here and enjoying life.

Hopefully this video I have embedded will work. Hoping all of you and your dogs are doing well.
